Streaming subscription services include the very popular Amazon Prime, Netflix, Hulu, and others. These services stream offer both original and third party content. Netflix and Amazon Prime are particularly known for their original documentaries.
Streaming subscription services do not offer subscription models to academic libraries; the Hodson Library is not able to obtain or provide access to documentaries that are exclusive to these streaming services. These business models are to amass single subscriptions or household subscriptions, rather than offer subscriptions that provide widespread access.
A very few documentaries created by these services are offered freely through streaming from the documentary directors. Faculty members can contact Mary Atwell, at atwell@hood.edu, to research the availability of individual streaming subscription-produced titles. An example is 13th, which is available here.
