Editing an Article

  • Find the article you want to edit on the event dashboard. 

  • Click 'Edit': At the top of the article, click the "Edit" button (or "Edit source" for advanced editing).​

  • Make Changes: Edit the text directly in the box or text(be careful with formatting).​

  • Preview Your Changes: Click "Show preview" to see how it will look.

 

  • Write an Edit Summary: Type a brief description of your changes (e.g., "Fixed grammar").​

  • Save Your Changes: Click "Save changes" to apply your edits.​

  • Check for Warnings: After saving, look for any warnings or suggestions and fix them if needed (Please do not add content or create pages that exist solely to attack, threaten, or disparage their subject).

Add Citations

  • Find the Article: Use the search bar to find the article and click the title to open it.​

  • Click 'Edit': Click the "Edit" button at the top of the article to open the visual editor (or "Edit source" for the source code editor).​

  • Highlight the Text to Cite: In the visual editor, highlight the text that needs a citation.

 

 

 

You can also use the Citation Hunter to add citations to articles that have unverified information. Start by searching for categories like "feminist artists."

Creating a Section Heading

  • Click 'Edit': Click the "Edit" button to open the visual editor (or "Edit source" for the source code editor).​

  • Position the Cursor: Click where you want the new section to appear in the article.​

  • Add the Section Heading.

  • Preview and Add Content: Click "Show preview" to see the heading, then add your content below it.​

  • Add an Edit Summary: Write a short note (e.g., "Added new section on climate change").​

  • Save Your Changes: Click "Save changes" to apply the new section.

Add Infoboxes

One easy way to improve Wikipedia articles is to add Infoboxes to existing articles. You can peruse this list of Women Artists who need Infoboxes. Here is a tutorial on how to make an Infobox:

  • Click "Edit": Click the "Edit" button at the top of the article.​

  • Choose Where to Add the Infobox: Place your cursor at the top of the article or where you want the infobox.​

  • Fill in the Infobox: Replace the example information with real details (e.g., name, image, birth date).​

  • Preview and Adjust: Click "Show preview" to check how the infobox looks and adjust if needed.​

  • Add an Edit Summary: Write a short description of your change (e.g., "Added infobox for person").​

  • Save Your Changes: Click "Save changes" to update the article.
