Donations to the Library Guide

Books accepted for our general collections include, which fall within our collection development goals (see Intellectual Content):

• trade paperbacks or hardbacks, including leisure reading
• books of an academic or scholarly nature
• oversized books
• textbooks (no older than 10 years)

• Books or items with mold, or anything with a mildew smell
• Books with significant damage, including torn or missing pages or heavy highlighting or underlining
• Educational books, materials, or textbooks not related to academic programs offered at Hood College (see Undergraduate Areas of Study | Hood College for information on programs and departments)
• VHS tapes or other formats where accessing the intellectual content is dependent upon obsolete equipment or software
• Magazines or newspapers
• Advanced Copies or Instructor Copies of textbooks
