Campus Services

Athletic Center and Aquatic Center

The two-level Hodson Fitness Center is open to all full-time or part-time students enrolled at Hood for the current semester as well as current Hood staff and faculty. Simply present their Hood ID and sign in at the fitness center welcome desk (Ext. 3501). More information and hours of operation here.

Campus Events

As members of the Hood community, you are welcome to attend events on campus, including concerts, visiting speakers, theater productions, and athletic games. See the Hood Calendar for more details, and the Hood College Athletics page for sports schedules. Your email inbox is another source for social and cultural events on campus.

Commuter Facilities and Services

  • The Whitaker Campus Center houses a 24-hour Commuter Lounge that is available to you. The lounge is located on the second floor and offers comfortable seating, a television and a kitchen. Commuting students may also reserve a locker for the school year. These lockers are reserved on a first-come, first-served basis; request a locker by contacting Student Life. 
  • You can also find the following in Whitaker: ATM machine, the Post Office, Hood College Bookstore, the Blazer cafe and an outdoor patio area.

Technology Services

The IT department can help you install or use programs that are critical to your coursework. They can answer questions about Blackboard, your email and access to network computers, and other technical issues.

  • The IT department website has helpful links for submitting a helpdesk request, access to the Virtual Computing Lab, and discounts on computers and software.
  • You may not know that as students at Hood you have a yearly printing quota (for full-time students, it's $50 a semester, and $25 for part-time). For more information on printing, click here.

Health & Counseling Services

  • A partnership with Frederick Health provides primary care, urgent care, sports physicals, women's health, and mental health services for all Hood College students. For more information on location, scheduling, insurance, and payment information, visit the Health & Wellness page. 
  • Staff counselors are available for brief supportive counseling, consultation and referral services. Commuter students are eligible for these services at no cost. Learn more about Hood College's counseling services on the Counseling Services page.
