When you first start using Zotero, you may want to set up a few preferences and choose citation styles to make your research management organized and convenient.
If you click Edit > Settings, you can choose some settings to make Zotero work best for you. Here are a few quick and helpful settings:
Zotero has a number of citation styles installed on the standalone product, but the citation style you need for your assignment might need to be downloaded from the Zotero Style Repository.
1. Open the Zotero Standalone.
2. Choose Edit > Settings from the menu.
3. Click Cite, then click Get additional styles... link.
4. Search for your chosen style, whether it's "American Chemical Society" or "Council of Science Editors, Name-Year (author-date)." The results should pop up as you type.
6. Clicking the style title will begin the download.
7. Toggle back to Zotero Standalone and this style will be available to use immediately.
