Some items to have on hand:
- An accessible and archival (PDF/A) copy of your thesis. This must be a single file. See these guides:
- Abstract (Help with abstracts)
- Optional Supplementary files (images, data, etc.) that are an integral part of the thesis, but not part of the full text.
- Department name
- Advisor and other Committee Members' Names
- Subject Categories - Choose one primary subject category which best describes the content of your paper. This is the category under which your paper will be organized in the ProQuest Dissertations and Theses database and the citation indices. You may also choose up to two additional subject categories; These categories will be associated with your work as secondary subjects.

If you are submitting a thesis or dissertation:
You will submit your work to MD-SOAR (see below) and Proquest ETD. An administrator (usually your advisor) reviews your submission via Proquest ETD to ensure that your information—including your abstract and the PDF of your manuscript—is accurate, correct, and complete. When your submission passes review, the administrator will 'accept' it. Your ETD is then sent to ProQuest for publishing.
All other work:
Will be submitted to MD-SOAR. After you set up an account, an administrator must approve you to submit. There is a short wait for approval. Once you finish submitting your work, an administrator will review and "accept" it.
